- Motion to ratify and authorize the Police Jury President’s prior approval to State Senator Luneau for the Senator’s request for $150,000.00 in State funding to be used/expended for the removal of debris from Bayou Rapides.

There were present : Joseph “Joe” Bishop, President, Sean McGlothlin, Vice - President, Davron “Bubba” Moreau, Craig Smith, Ernest Nelson, Danny Bordelon, Oliver “Ollie” Overton, Jr and Parrish Giles.
Absent were Police Jurors: Jay Scott.
Also present were : M s. Theresa Pacholik , Secretary/Treasurer; Mr. Gregory L. Jones, Legal Counsel; Mr. Cory Ashmore, Public Works Director; Ms. Sarah Vidrine, Mr. John Depril; KALB TV and Urban Cast.
The invocation was given by Mr. Ernest Nelson
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Bubba Moreau.
The Police Jury of the Parish of Rapides, State of Louisiana, was duly convened as the governing authority of said Parish by Hon. Joe Bishop, President, who welcomed all present and then stated that the Police Jury was ready for the transaction of business.
The President asked if there was any public comment on any agenda item, to which there was no response.
On motion by Mr. Sean McGlothlin, seconded by Mr. Ernest Nelson to ratify and authorize the Police Jury President’s prior approval to State Senator Luneau for the Senator’s request for $150,000.00 in State funding to be used/expended for the removal of debris from Bayou Rapides. Discussion ensued.
Legal Counsel stated the Jury received a letter yesterday, June 5, 2024, from SPECIAL SESSION JUNE 6, 2024
Senator Jay Luneau requesting the Jury formally approve the request to the State of Louisiana for the funds to assist in removing debris from Bayou Rapides. Mr. Bishop stated he would like for the record to reflect a formal thank you to Senator Luneau for his assistance in finding funding for Rapides Parish. On vote the motion carried.
Mr. Craig Smith then stated that he would like to add an item to the agenda and proceeded to read the proposed item out loud:
Motion to authorize the Gold, Weems, Bruser, Sues & Rundell Law Firm, special counsel appointed by the District Attorney, to file and manage the lawsuit docketed as Civil Suit No. 279,492, pending in Division “C” of the 9th Judicial District Court; Rapides Parish; State of Louisiana; and to ratify all prior actions taken by said attorneys in relation thereto.
Mr. Smith then stated that the purpose for the addition was that the Jury had just received this morning a request to take immediate action on the matter.
Legal Counsel then advised that the item could not be added to the agenda unless there was an unanimous roll call vote to add the item to the agenda.
On motion by Mr. Sean McGlothlin , seconded by Mr. Ollie Overton, that the following item(s) were placed on the Jury meeting after the agenda was posted and are now being added in compliance with the Public Meetings Law and is confirmed as having been added to the agenda by unanimous vote:

On motion by Mr. Craig Smith, seconded by Mr. Sean McGlothlin there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:04 p.m.
