NOTICE OF SPECIAL POLICE JURY MEETING

  1. Public Hearing for Rapides Parish Police Jury, sitting as the Board of Review, to receive any protests under a Request for Review of property tax assessments timely filed.
  2. Any other business that may properly come before the Police Jury.

BY ORDER OF THE PRESIDENT

There were present: Honorable Oliver Overton, President; Richard Vanderlick, Vice President; and Police Jur ors Joe Bishop ; Theodore Fountaine, Jr.; Davron “Bubba” Moreau; Craig Smith; and Sean McGlothlin. Absent: Scott Perry, Jr. and Richard Billings.

Also present were Mr. Dennis Woodward, Public Works Director; Mr. Shane Trapp, Courthouse and Jail Building Superintendent; Chief Randy McCain, Fire District No. 2; Mr. Thomas O. Wells, Legal Counsel; and Ms. Angela T. Voss, Parish Secretary.

The invocation was given by Mr. Theodore Fountaine, Jr.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Richard Vanderlick.

The Police Jury of the Parish of Rapides, State of Louisiana, was duly convened as the governing authority of said Parish by Hon. Oliver Overton, President, who welcomed all present and then stated that the Police Jury was ready for the transaction of business.

The President asked if there was any Pub lic Comment on any Agenda Item, to which there was none.

On m otion by Mr. Richard Vanderlick, seconded by Mr. Joe Bishop, to sit as a Board of Review for hearing complaints on property assessment, as advertised. SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 17, 2012

Mr. Overton recognized Mr. Rick Ducote, Rapides Parish Tax Assessor.

The President o pened to receive the protests for those requests for review timely filed.

Mr. Ducote announced the following h ad submitted withdrawals after the deadline and there were no other timely filed applications.

Mr. Ducote also presented the 2012 Assessments for Rapides Parish, as certified to the Police Jury:

Total assessed value of all real and personal property 738,544,063 Assessed value of all homestead exempt property 177,968,212 Assessed value of all taxable real and personal property 560,575,851 Public Service assessed value 132,468,180 Total assessed value, including homestead exemption 871,012,243 Total Taxpayer assessed value 693,044,031

He explained Acadian Gas was the reason for the increase in public service. The pipeline and gas processing facility gave a significant increase in taxing district Wards 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8. Ward 3, Cheneyville, will receive the most because of the station located in that area. This made up for the loss of International Paper.

On motion by Mr. Richard Vanderlick , seconded by Mr. Sean McGlothlin , that there being no property tax assessment protests to be considered or no further business, the hearing be decla red closed and meeting adjourned. On vote the motion carried at 3:07 p.m.
