Executive, Administration and Legal Committee Meeting

Minutes: Meeting of Tuesday, July 19, 2022

Absent: Mr. Stephen McGee, Vice- Chair

The monthly meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority’s Executive, Administration and Legal Committee was called to order by Commissioner Lewis at 8:00 a.m. Executive Director, Clifford Moller called the roll. A quorum was present.

The Committee heard from Ms. Sherry Smith, Executive Director of the Alexandria/Pineville Conventions and Visitors Bureau. Ms. Smith asked GAEDA to consider larger events in the future. She also bid the Commission farewell as she is set to retire at the end of July 2022.

It was moved by Commissioner Cheney and seconded by Commissioner Lewis to recommend approval of the June 2022 Financial Statements. There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.

It was moved by Commissioner Cheney and seconded by Commissioner Lewis to recommend ratifying the payment of the June 2022 Accounting Bill. There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.

It was moved by Commissioner Cheney and seconded by Commissioner Lewis to recommend ratifying the payment of the June 2022 Legal Bill. There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.

There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 a.m.

Governmental Relations Committee Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority’s Governmental Relations Committee was called to order by Commissioner Cheney at 8:10 a.m. Executive Director, Clifford Moller called the roll. A quorum was present.

There being no business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 8:11 a.m.

Economic Development Committee Meeting

Minutes: Meeting of Tuesday, July 19, 2022

Present: Ms. Renee White-Goolsby; Trayce Snow; Mr. John Carroll

The monthly meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority’s Economic Development Committee was called to order by Commissioner White-Goolsby at 8:11 a.m. Executive Director, Clifford Moller called the roll. A quorum was present.

The Committee heard from Rick Reno, Executive Director of the Rapides Parish Coliseum.

It was moved by Commissioner Carroll and seconded by Commissioner Snow to recommend not approving a grant request from Agape Center for Troubled Youth. There being no public comments, motion passed by 2 to 1 vote.

There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m.

The monthly meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority’s Capital Projects Committee was called to order by Commissioner Carroll at 8:31 a.m. Executive Administrator, Angela Varnado called the roll. A quorum was present.

The Committee heard a report from the Mr. Keith Hillman of Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix & Hixson regarding the Masonic Drive corridor. A discussion was held.

There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 a.m.

The monthly regular meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority was called to order by Commissioner Lewis at 8:40 a.m. Executive Director, Clifford Moller called the roll. A quorum was present.

It was moved by Commissioner Carroll and seconded by Commissioner Cheney to approve the June 2022 Consent Agenda with the amendment to the June 2022 Meeting Minutes to include Commissioner Snow in the Economic Development Committee. There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.

There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.

It was moved by Commissioner Carroll and seconded by Commissioner Cheney to not approve a grant request from St. Mary’s Residential Training School. There being no public comments, motion passed by unanimous vote.
