Minutes: Meeting of Tuesday, April 28, 2020
Present: Tamara Battles, Chair; Michael Caffery, Vice-Chair; John Carroll; Jay Sharplin; Paula Nelson, Secretary/Treasurer; Zeb Winstead
Absent: None
The monthly meeting of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority was called to order by Commissioner Battles at 8:01 a.m. Executive Administrator, Angela Varnado called the roll. A quorum was present.
A discussion was held regarding a proposed motion by commissioner Winstead to authorize the Executive Committee to empower the Executive Director to enter into cooperative endeavor agreements with third parties to effectuate the purposes of the Authority up to the amounts approved in the 2020 budget. A discussion was held.
Commissioner Caffery proposed a substitute motion authorizing the Executive Committee to act for the Board and make decisions on matters which, require action before the next Board meeting; approve all cooperative endeavor agreements; and affect the budgeted items that require immediate action for the duration of the Governor’s Emergency Declaration.
It was moved by Commissioner Caffery and seconded by Commissioner Caffery to delay the proposed motions of Commissioner Winstead and Commissioner Caffery until Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. via telephone conference. There being no comments, the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The CPA gave a report addressing GAEDA’s financial position to date. A discussion was held.
There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 8:39 a.m.
