PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MAY 14, 2024. The Council of the City of Alexandria, Louisiana, met in a regularly scheduled meeting session in the City Council Chambers, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. Those present were the Honorable Jim Villard, Lizzie Felter, Gary Johnson, Chuck Fowler, REDDEX Washington and Lee Rubin. Cynthia Perry was absent. Also present were Mayor Roy, City Attorney Jonathon Goins, Michael Caffery and Council Staff. The Council of the City of Alexandria, State of Louisiana was duly convened as the governing authority of said City by the Honorable Jim Villard, who stated that the Council was ready for the transaction of business. The invocation was pronounced by Mr. Caffery and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Rubin. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion of Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Johnson the minutes taken from a regular Council Meeting held on April 30, 2024 were unanimously approved by the Council.
CONSENT CALENDAR
The Council next read all items found under the heading Consent Calendar and assigned them to committees.
Mr. Fowler moved for the introduction of all items appearing under the heading Consent Calendar. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. It was unanimously carried by the Council. Bids were received for work uniforms for various departments. Name of Bidders Caplan’s Inc. The above bid was referred to the Mayor and appropriate committee for tabulation and recommendation. The following ordinance was introduced by Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Johnson to wit: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE LOW BID SUBMITTED FOR ANNUAL WORK UNIFORMS FOR VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER MATTERS WITH RESPECT THERETO.
Bids were received for ready mix concrete. Name of Bidders Builders Supply Company Bayou Ready Mix
The above bid was referred to the Mayor and appropriate committee for tabulation and recommendation. The following ordinance was introduced by Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Johnson to wit: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE LOW BID SUBMITTED FOR READY MIX CONCRETE AND OTHER MATTERS WITH RESPECT THERETO.
